
Ronnie Gutierrez is a versatile and talented percussionist & drummer who has played throughout the world. Born in Los Angeles, the son of 1960’s percussion icon, Mike Gutierrez, he began his musical journey at the age of four. Surrounded and influenced by Latin music legends, such as Willie Bobo, Luis Miranda and (Ronnie’s Godfather), Bobby Montez. By age twelve, Ronnie had his own band and was performing for school and church events.
Extensive training and experience, combined with raw natural talent keep Ronnie constantly in demand for recording sessions and live performances. He attended Dick Grove School of Music in Studio City, CA. Ronnie’s private teachers include, Dick Wilson, and Alan Dawson, John Perrett.
Ronnie’s list of collaborations and credits spans the globe and the musical spectrum, from his Latin roots; classical to contemporary. In addition to performing with the California Philharmonic, Germany’s V.D.R. Orchestra, and Holland’s Metropole Orchestra, Ronnie’s credits include concert and album performances with Grammy Award winning artists, Al Jarreau, Andrea Bochelli, Jeffrey Osborne, David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, Brenda Russell, David Pack, Mariah Carey, Gladys Knight, Macy Grey, Natalie Cole, Babyface, George Duke, Poncho Sanchez, ALL FOR ONE, Claire Fisher and Dave koz.
Ronnie‘s band performed privately for Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Former Disney CEO, Michael Ovitz, Rod Stewart, Sheri Belafonte and many more personalities. He also played for the The Oscar’s & The Emmy’s.
His first CD is titled “LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON.” His vision was to share various Latin rhythms across generations with his father Mike Gutierrez, his earliest inspiration.
The styles range from afro cuban & Brazilian influences to Latin Jazz including old school salsa & originals. Mike is a young 79 and sings with Ronnie’s sister, Leslie Paula on lead vocals. Ronnie plays the drums making this an exciting and vibrant family affair.
